i3 will host its first-ever, Alumni Mixer, on Saturday, June 14 at The Porch at Schenley. i3 Scholars representing the 2011, 2012, and 2013 cohorts will join their latest counterparts—the 2014 i3 Scholars—for an evening of food, networking, and fun. The Alumni Mixer will kick-off the Concluding Institute for the returning 2013 i3 Scholars. During the two-week Concluding Institute, 2013 i3 Scholars will refine their year-long projects, design research posters, and create and deliver presentations detailing their work over the last twelve months. Cross-cohort networking and mentoring remains a major component of i3.
Scholars attending graduate programs across the country provide candid advice about The University of Pittsburgh’s iSchool Diversity Student Organization (DSO) is co-sponsoring the Alumni Mixer. DSO President, Jourdan Walls, expressed her excitement about the event, stating: “It’s a wonderful opportunity to meet talented students interested in graduate school and the information sciences. As a Masters student at Pitt, I want to help build and develop an inclusive community that gives back to our younger scholars and pushes them to achieve their fullest potential. i3 has the chance make that kind of difference at Pitt and in the information sciences.”
Due to limited seating, the i3 Alumni Mixer is an invitation-only event.
